In response to the March 30th voluntary recall initiated by the FDA, Fiddyment Farms asked the American Council For Food Safety And Quality (DFA) to conduct tests on all of our current inventories of products, both raw and processed. All DFA test results were all negative for salmonella. However, on April 9th, 2009 we were notified that Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella was expanding their voluntary recall from certain lots of roasted pistachios to all 2008 roasted in-shell products due to the potential of salmonella contamination. Because of this recent notification, we want to alert our customers that some of our roasted, salted in-shell product passed though the Setton processing facility this past year. As a precautionary step, we are initiating a recall of roasted, salted in-shell pistachios sold by Fiddyment Farms from October 15, 2008 to March 31, 2009 at Farmer’s Markets and through our online store. If you have any remaining Roasted, Salted In-shell product purchased between the dates listed above, do not consume this product and contact Fiddyment Farms to receive a refund or replacement.
To ensure there are no further issues of this kind, all of our products - including our roasted, salted pistachios, are being roasted and processed at our facility in Lincoln. Once again, our inventory has been tested and all results were negative for salmonella. This voluntary recall affects only roasted, salted in-shell pistachios as none of our other products, both in-shell and kernels were roasted and processed at the Setton facility.
Please contact our office at 916-645-7244 or toll free at 877-343-3276 with any questions or to obtain further information. The FDA at www.fda.gov/pistachios will continue to provide information and updates of the voluntary recall and you may also visit the Western Pistachio Association (a member based grower group) at www.westernpistachio.org.

Fiddyment Farms is very aware of the voluntary recall of pistachios initiated by the FDA, this is a precautionary recall and no cases of Salmonellosis have been reported. In order to assure our product safety, we have initiated testing of our own inventories to determine any risk to the public and our customers. We expect test results to be completed this week and the results will be available from our office and be posted on our website when received. In the meantime, we suggest you hold your current supply and do not discard until the FDA and all test results are known.
